COHED
supported community–based tourism service at Mai Hich Commune ( Mai Chau
District, Hoa Binh Province) is becoming a favorable
tourism-destination. High quality home stay service was provided to 438
tourists in 2013 – the first year since launching of the service.

Tourists
who come to Mai Hich commune on Tet time  can participate and enjoy
many traditional customs and practices of Thai ethnic people to prepare
for Tet Holidays such as making square cakes named “Chung Gu”, a
traditional cake of the ethnic minority populations living in the
North-West Mountainous Region of Vietnam. This kind of cake is  one of
principal food at the traditional Tet and Doan Ngo (the fifth of May in
Lunar year) celebrations. Tourists will also experience very special
feeling  when they seat beside the outdoor stove, waiting for Square
Rice Cakes to be cooked while  listening the old  song sang by a Thai
woman.
